Greg Stellman, who is Technician, Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Carlsbad Exclusive Auto, has always been interested in vehicles. As a child he spent much of his time drawing vehicle designs. He officially began his career in vehicle repair as a junior in high school at a streetrod shop. He worked at the shop for four years, attending Universal Technical Institute (UTI) for one of those years. He graduated from UTI in 1995, and subsequently came to work for Hoehn Motors in Carlsbad, CA. He spent twelve years at the dealership, achieving Master Certification as a Mercedes-Benz Technician and in Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). His specialty is Air Conditioning Systems. In his spare time, Greg enjoys all types of racing, including Formula 1, off-road, and drag racing.

Ryan Carpenter, who is Technician, Owner and Chief Financial Officer, began his career in vehicle repair at age 10 rebuilding lawnmowers for his neighborhood. At age 12 he upgraded his “shop” to include motorcycles. He started taking shop and welding classes in middle school and moved up to engines and general automotive repair in High School. From 1995-1996 he attended the Universal Technical Institute (UTI). While there, he worked as a technician at Phoenix Motor Company. Upon his return to California, Ryan began employment at Hoehn Motors in Carlsbad, CA. He spent 9-1/2 years at the dealership, achieving Certification in Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) levels 1-8, and gaining a wealth of experience in all aspects of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys time with his family, restoring two classic 1955 Chevys, and cycling.

In the past, I have always used the Mercedes dealership mechanics to work on my 2002 Mercedes Benz. One night I had a flat tire and the tow truck driver used the wrong lug nuts on the spare tire. The damage caused to the car required it to be towed to Mercedes for repair. I was told it was not a big problem and that my car would ready that afternoon. Two additional trips to the dealership didn't resolve the noise and irregular brake squeal when turning the vehicle. I even replaced the brakes unnecessarily at their recommendation. I was basically brushed off - they gave me excuses for the noise and I was told it would go away once the brakes seated (?). I decided to take it to Carlsbad Exclusive Auto on the recommendation from an employee from Mercedes.
I called and described the incident to them and they immediately knew that the repairs done on my car were not adequate considering the potential damage that they assumed had occurred. It is not uncommon, I understand, for towing companies to inadvertently use the lugs for the wheel in lieu of the spare tire lugs that fit properly. When I arrived with my car, the guys explained the needed repair, they showed me what they would need to do, and quoted me a fair and honest price. I was amazed and extremely pleased with their customer service and patient explanations.
When I arrived to pick up my car it looked like it came off the showroom floor! The damaged parts were available for viewing, and the bill was as close to the quote as it could get. Unlike my other three bills from the dealership that did not correct the damage. Carlsbad Exclusive Auto is truly a trustworthy and experienced auto repair shop.
